Air ambulance gets a lift from residents

Kind-hearted residents from one of our independent living communities in Pucklechurch handed over a cheque for £340 to a life-saving local charity.

Dennisworth residents raised the money for the Great Western Air Ambulance from three raffles at their weekly coffee mornings.

Resident Pat Sypko said: “The air ambulance is a really good cause and we were delighted to support it and raise so much money for them. Last year we gave £200 to the When You Wish Upon a Star charity, but this was the most we’ve ever raised.

“One lady donated some old fashioned dolls which we raffled off one week and made £75. Another lady made up a hamper of things, and we made £70 from that. Then just before Christmas we all donated some items and put them into a big raffle.”

John Christensen, Chief Executive of Great Western Air Ambulance Charity said: “We are extremely grateful to the residents of Dennisworth for their support.

“As a charity, we receive no funding from the Government or the National Lottery, and so the money that has been raised will help to ensure that our air ambulance can keep flying.”
