Customers tackle digital inclusion issues

Our first every digital inclusion was a big success with a full house engaged in discussion designed to help customers take advantage of online services.

Working in partnership with O2, the workshop brought together customers and staff to think about answers to the big questions around digital exclusion:  what are the barriers for people not using the internet and how can we overcome them?

We know that there are 12.6m adults in Britain that do not have the basic digital skills they need  to benefit from the online world – and nearly 6 million people have never used the internet. Worryingly, it is those that are already disadvantage through, age, education, income, disability or unemployment who are most likely to be missing out.  

Attendees worked on these issues in groups and have been asked to come up with some answered before the next workshop on 5 February. If you want to come along, email kay.rose@merlinhs.co.uk
