We've secured deals with two nationwide developers to provide 74 new affordable homes on the outskirts of Bristol.
We've signed contracts with Linden Homes and Barratt Homes to take on homes that are being built at Charlton Hayes in Patchway. The £9m deals are part of our goal to be building 300 new homes every year by 2019.
Head of Development Amanda Swann said: “There’s clearly a desperate need for more affordable housing in and around Bristol, with the recent revelation that there are 235 families living in bed and breakfast accommodation in the city and that homelessness has risen over the past five years.
“We’ve got ambitious plans to increase the number of affordable homes that we’re building in and around Bristol over the next few years to try and meet this demand. These 74 homes are just around a quarter of the 350 we’ll be starting to build over the next 12 months.
“The homes are sure to be popular as they’re in a great location, close to the countryside, the motorway network and all of the shops and leisure facilities at Cribbs Causeway.”
Most of the homes will be available for social rent and let through the local authority’s choice-based lettings scheme. But 12 properties will be available for shared ownership. More details about these properties will be available on the website soon.
