After building more homes than ever before our development team has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award.
The team are in the running for Development or maintenance team of the year in the Housing Heroes Awards organised by Inside Housing and the Chartered Institute of Housing. They’ve been shortlisted for taking our housebuilding programme from a standing start in 2014 when we built just two homes, to completing a record 131 new homes last year.
As well as completing 131 new homes, during the year work was started on 234 new homes, setting the scene for next year’s programme.
Development Manager Peter Crouch said: “It’s been a fantastic year; new completions are going from strength to strength and it’s clear we’re a recognised force in the area now for affordable housing. We’ve progressed so much over the last five years, we’re a bigger team, with bigger targets and we’re hitting them and that’s very satisfying.”
Among the homes built over the past year have been 39 in Coalpit Heath, 28 in Fishponds plus our first new homes in Bath at Ensleigh.
Head of Development Amanda Swann said: “The target for next year is to build 235 new homes – 100 more than our target for this year. But we’ve already got 166 practical completions lined up and have more than 400 properties under contract or close to being in contract, so we’re confident we’ll meet our target next year as well.”
The winners of the Housing Heroes Awards 2017 will be announced at a ceremony in Manchester on 26 June.
