People living close to our latest development site in Staple Hill took the chance to have a chat with the team that will be delivering the work earlier this month.
We’re planning to build 30 new homes across the site of our former supported housing scheme at Irving Close, and the nearby garages in James Road. With work due to start in March, we invited local people to come and have a chat with us and our contractors United Living, who we’ve appointed to build the new homes.
Development Officer Shane Smith said: “We had lots of interest and were pleased to see so many people attend.
“There’s no shortage of demand for affordable housing in Staple Hill, so these homes will provide much-needed quality accommodation. They’re in a great location; close to the high street and right next to the Bristol – Bath railway path, so we’re sure they’re going to be popular.”
Work is due to start on demolishing the garages next month, with the demolition of the former housing scheme due to take place in May. They’ll be replaced with a mixture of one and two bedroom flats, two and three bedroom houses, plus a number of one bedroom bungalows.
The homes mostly be for rent, although five of them will be available to buy through our shared ownership scheme. More details about these properties will be available soon.
