Welcome to our new Chief Executive

robert nettleton

Robert Nettleton joined the Chipping Sodbury based housing association this month from Coastline Housing in Cornwall.

Chair of Merlin’s Board Andrew Frayling said: “We’re excited to have Robert join the organisation at a time when there is so much going on.

“We’re undertaking some significant programmes of redevelopment and refurbishment of our older existing properties to turn them into homes fit for the future.

“We’re also developing brand new sites to deliver at least 200 much needed affordable homes for families in our area by 2015. And we’re investing into our communities and the people who live in them with support in areas like budgeting, employability and digital inclusion.

Robert commented “I am delighted to have joined Merlin Housing as Chief Executive and am very much looking forward to working with the staff, the board, customers and wider stakeholders.  Merlin has the potential to deliver outstanding services to its customers across the board and develop many new homes.  I very much look forward to playing my part in ensuring that such happens.”

During his time as Chief Executive of Coastline, Robert led and oversaw improvements across the group including an increase in customer satisfaction to 92%, and a fourfold increase in surpluses to over 16%. The organisation achieved Investors in People Gold and entry into the Sunday Times Top 100 companies under his leadership.

Merlin was formed in 2007 when residents of South Gloucestershire Council voted to transfer their properties to the new company. It now owns or manages 8,400 properties, has an annual turnover of £37m and has spent more than £50m improving its customers’ homes.
