We've completed a deal for our second batch of new homes in a Cotswold town in a matter of months.
Earlier in the year we signed a deal with Miller Homes to take on 52 of the new homes being built at Highfields Farm on the north of the town. This deal marked our first new homes in the Cotswold area. Now we've has sealed a £2m deal for 16 homes being built by Hills Homes on land on Bath Road on Tetbury’s southern edge.
Development Manager Peter Crouch said: “Having secured our first contract in the town at the start of the year, we delighted to have completed this deal with Hills Homes. It’s the first time we will have worked together and we’re looking forward to building quality affordable homes in the town.
"With these two deals we’ll be able to offer local people low cost rent and home ownership options, which are desperately needed in the town. Recent research by the National Housing Federation has revealed that house prices in the Cotswold area are 14 times higher than the average income which is leaving local people struggling to find somewhere affordable to live. These homes will be genuinely affordable and we can’t wait to see them completed.”
Having exceeded our target of building 130 new homes last year, we’re now aiming to build 235 homes in the current year. It’s part of our expanding development programme, which by 2019 aims to be producing 300 affordable homes every year.
The new homes in Tetbury will be a mixture of social rent and shared ownership. The first of the homes will be ready in autumn 2018. Details about the shared ownership homes will be available on our website in the near future.
