We built 30 new homes on the sites of a former older people's housing scheme at Irving Close in Staple Hill and the former garages in nearby James Road. The homes are a mixture of one and two bedroom flats, two and three bedroom houses plus a number of one bedroom bungalows.
Location: Staple Hill
Number of new properties: 30
Start on site: May 2016
Completed: September 2017
These amazing before and after photos show how we’ve completely transformed a small part of Staple Hill.
Two years ago these James Road garages were unused, run-down and a hot spot for anti-social behaviour. Today, five brand new bungalows have taken the place of the garages and are now ready for people to move in.
Development Officer Shane Smith said: “It’s incredible to see how this area has been transformed. The garages had become a bit of an eyesore and weren’t being used, so this was a great opportunity to redevelop the site and provide some much-needed affordable housing.”
The redevelopment of the garages is part of our ongoing work to increase the number of new affordable homes we build each year. By 2019, we’re aiming to build 300 new homes every year.
