The first customers of our new flats in Whitchurch have moved in and are making themselves at home.
We’ve recently completed the first eight homes of 39 new affordable properties being built at The Bridles in partnership with national developer Bellway. It’s one of two developments in the village at the moment, as we’re also working in partnership with Barratts to build 40 new affordable homes at Queen Charlton Lane.
Development Officer Abby Ranger said: “We know there’s a real need for more affordable housing right across the area and are pleased to have completed our first homes on this site. Average house prices locally are more than ten times average incomes according to research from the National Housing Federation and we’re committed to provide more quality, affordable hoes.
“These homes are just six miles from the centre of Bristol and have great transport links to the wider area. We’re sure they’re going to prove popular with people.”
The remaining homes at The Bridles and Queen Charlton Lane will be a mixture of social rent and shared ownership, are due to be completed in phases between now and the end of 2019. They form part of our ambition to deliver 14,000 new homes over the next ten years.
