A free course being run by Merlin Housing Society is aiming to help its residents improve their job prospects.
The housing provider has teamed up with Tabs Training, one of the south west’s largest training companies, to offer the intensive six-day training course. Jobseekers will learn how to make their CV shine, break through barriers to work, and even plan their career. It will also include interview role-plays, IT skills and staying safe in the workplace.
Community Investment Manager Jen Griffiths said: “Job applications and interviews can be a daunting prospect, especially if you’ve been unemployed for a long time. This course will not only give residents the skills and the confidence to find, apply for and get their ideal job, it will also improve their IT and communication skills as well.
“We’re committed to investing in local communities and helping our residents get into work. We’re delighted to be working with Tabs Training to offer our residents this opportunity and if it’s successful then we’ll look at holding more of these events across our area.”
The course is open to residents who are currently looking for work or on Income Support, Council Tax Benefit or Housing Benefit. It runs from the 26 – 28 June and 3 – 5 July at the Gateway Revival Church in Yate. Space is limited so places need to be booked in advance.
To apply to take part in the course contact the Community Investment Team at your area housing office, or email email@example.com
