Four new shared ownership homes in Fishponds have proved a big hit with would-be buyers after they were sold within a few days.
In just seven days we had 26 applications to buy the new homes; nearly seven per property. The homes are being built in partnership with Barratt Homes on the site of the former St Matthias College in Fishponds as part of a larger development of more than 200 properties.
Sales & Home Ownership Officer Samantha Dore said: “There is huge demand for shared ownership homes at the moment. People are finding that they cannot afford to buy a home outright and so shared ownership offers them an opportunity to own part of a home.
“These homes in Fishponds are still being built, but should be ready for the lucky four applicants to move into in July.”
Of the 65 homes we’re building on the site of the former college, 15 will be for shared ownership. The next home on the site will be available later this autumn. We’ve currently got two homes available to buy through shared ownership in the village of Itchington, near Thornbury.
The St Matthias development is part of our ongoing development programme as we move towards our goal of building at least 300 homes every year by 2019. During the current year we plan to start work on 350 new homes.
