Robert Nettleton has been appointed as new Chief Executive of South Gloucestershire based Merlin Housing Society.

Robert, 39, joins the 8,400 home housing provider next month from Coastline Housing in Cornwall where he has been CEO since 2009.

Chair of Merlin’s Board Andrew Frayling said: “Over the next few years, we’re undertaking multi-million pound programmes of redevelopment and refurbishment of our older existing properties, as well as developing brand new sites to deliver at least 200 much needed affordable homes for families in our area.

“We’ve been making significant strides in delivering improved services through better governance and management to prepare for this future and we need a strong leader to take things forward. Robert has certainly proved himself at Coastline and we’re looking forward to having him on board.”

Robert commented “I am delighted to be joining Merlin Housing as Chief Executive and am very much looking forward to working with the staff, the board, customers and wider stakeholders.  Merlin has the potential to deliver outstanding services to its customers across the board and I very much look forward to playing my part in ensuring that happens.”
During his time as Chief Executive of Coastline, Robert led and oversaw improvements across the group including an increase in customer satisfaction to 92%, and a fourfold increase in surpluses to over 16%. The organisation achieved Investors in People Gold and entry into the Sunday Times Top 100 companies under his leadership.
Merlin was formed in 2007 when residents of South Gloucestershire Council voted to transfer their properties to the new company. Since its inception, it has spent more than £50m improving customer’s homes.
