A social housing landlord is building a better future with the appointment of new apprentices.

To mark National Apprentices Week, Merlin Housing Society has reaffirmed its commitment to taking on at least ten new apprentices every year. After taking on seven young apprentices last year, it has announced that a further three apprentices will be starting later this month. The trio were selected after coming along to an open event with the society’s apprenticeship partner, South Gloucestershire and Stroud College.

“The open day was incredibly popular and it was great to see so how much interest there was from people of all ages in our apprenticeship scheme,” said Winston Williams, Managing Director of Merlin Works.

“Apprenticeships deliver for both those looking to develop their skills and gain a nationally recognised qualification and employers – they offer a great route into employment for people regardless of their experience and at a time when youth unemployment is high,  they provide us with the chance to develop a skilled workforce for the future.

“We’re a growing business and recognise our responsibility to provide opportunities for young people, which is why we’ll be taking on another ten apprentices in the autumn as well. We’re proud to support National Apprenticeship Week and look forward to welcoming our latest apprentices in the next few weeks.”
