Neighbours invited to comment on plans for new homes

Downend residents are being invited to an event to learn about 20 new affordable homes we want to build in the area.

We’re inviting people to a consultation event on Thursday 26 May at the Communal Lounge, Beaufort Court, Blackhorse Lane from 3:30pm – 6:15pm to discuss our plans.
We’re proposing to redevelop two sites either side of Beaufort Court, the first of which is a former garage site behind Beaufort Road. The second, smaller site is at 28 Blackhorse Lane, which currently has a bungalow on it.

Development Manager Peter Crouch said: “There’s a real shortage of affordable housing in South Gloucestershire, with thousands of families on the council’s waiting list. We’ve got ambitious plans to increase our homebuilding programme so that by 2019 we’re building 300 new homes every year. These proposed properties in Downend form part of these ambitions.”

We’re aiming to submit a planning application for the development later in the year.
