New affordable homes for Bedminster

Seventeen new affordable homes are coming to Bedminster after we completed a deal with Redrow Homes.

We have secured a £3m contract to take on 17 of the 110 homes that Redrow are building on the former industrial estate off Bedminster Road. The homes are a mixture of two and three bedroom properties. Four homes will be available for shared ownership, while the other 13 will be offered for social rent.

It’s the latest in a string of deals with national homebuilders that we've secured, as our growing development programme aims to build on a record-breaking 2016-17 when we completed 131 homes. Our goal is to expand this to 230 new homes in the current financial year, and 300 in 2019.

Development Officer Ellen Copeland said: “We’re pleased to be working with Redrow for the first time on this new development which will increase affordable homes in Bristol. This is our third development in the city and comes at a time when the need for new affordable housing has never been greater.

“The National Housing Federation’s Home Truths report has revealed that house prices in Bristol are now nearly ten times average incomes, which has priced many people out of being able to own their own home. With private rents also rising sharply, we know that these affordable homes will be in high demand.”

We'll take possession of our homes in late 2018. Details of the shared ownership homes will be available on our sales page.
