Office-conversion shortlisted for national award

For the second time in a week we’ve been shortlisted for a national award.

Following hot on the heels of our shortlisting for National Housing Awards on Tuesday, we’ve now been shortlisted in Inside Housing’s Top 60 Developments Awards 2016. It’s the second year in a row we’ve made the finals of these prestigious awards. Last year our Cromhall development was shortlisted for the Non-grant-funded development of the year. Now, our transformation of Weir House from a 1960s office block, into modern flats has been shortlisted for the Innovative Development Award.

The £4m development has transformed the outdated, concrete office block, into 30 one and two bedroom flats. And by fitting an air source heat pump system into the building, it’s improved the energy efficiency of the homes from the mid 60s to more than 80. Not only is it better for the environment, it also means customers’ energy bills are lower than they would have been with other systems.

It’s proving popular with customers as well. New tenant Kiri said: “I like the space and the set out of the property.  And I feel really safe which makes me happy.”

Development Manager Peter Crouch said: “We’re really pleased. It’s fantastic news to get shortlisted for this prestigious national award for the second year in a row.”

Weir House is already an award-winning development having scooped the Value award at the South West Constructing Excellence Awards in May. It’s now going on to the national Constructing Excellence Awards ceremony in November.
