Older people invited to try something new

Some of our older residents have a go at belly dancing.

From arts and crafts to dancing and exercise a range of activities will be available for older customers to experience at three special events taking place in October.

Merlin is running three taster sessions for older customers to help the housing association decide what activities it will run over the next year. The taster sessions will also give people the chance to improve their ICT skills, have a head and hand massage and much more.

It’s part of the housing association’s ongoing work to improve the wellbeing of its customers. Earlier in the year Merlin received a £9,000 grant from South Gloucestershire Council to improve the mental health and wellbeing of its customers.

Merlin’s Lead for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Cam Kinsella said: “We think it’s important to help customers to lead healthy, happy lives and remain active in their community. These sessions will give our customers the chance to take part in some new activities and help us decide what types of activities to run for them in the future.”

All of the taster sessions are running from 10.15am - 3.15pm and include a buffet lunch. The sessions are taking place on:

  • Tuesday 13 October at The Stokes, Little Stoke Lane, Little Stoke
  • Tuesday 20 October at Kingswood Community Hall, High Street, Kingswood
  • Friday 30 October at Dodington Parish Hall, Finch Road, Chipping Sodbury

The sessions are open to all our customers aged over 55. For more information, to find out times and to book your place on any of the taster sessions, please call us on 0300 123 2222 and ask to speak to a member of the activities team.
