We’ve smashed our £5,000 corporate charity target at the end of 2017.
By baking cakes, washing cars and sponsored silences we raised a fantastic £6362.42 for Macmillan Cancer Support over the last 12 months.
Macmillan Fundraising Manager, Ceris Bradley said: “A massive thank you to Merlin for choosing us as their charity of the year for 2017 and for raising such a fantastic amount of money! The money they have worked hard to raise could run a Macmillan benefits service for a whole month – last year our team identified over £325,000 in benefits for people in the local community to help them with the added costs a cancer diagnosis brings.
“Without the support of people like Merlin, many people across Bristol and South Gloucestershire would have to face cancer alone – life with cancer is still life and with Merlin’s help, we can help people live it.”
The biggest fundraising event was when 20 brave members of staff took part in the South West Tough Mudder Challenge at Badminton House.
Disposals Officer and Tough Mudder team captain, Katie Turner-Clarke said: “What an amazing team we had to complete the full Tough Mudder course of 10 miles plus, each and every one put 110% effort in to complete the course. The drive and focus for us all was the amazing money we had and continued to raise for Macmillan. We cleaned cars, in the rain may I add, baked cakes and goodies, hired an assault course, did a fabulous raffle with many top prizes kindly donated from many local companies & even a sponsored silence from a colleague who talks a lot!.
“Macmillan was and is close to many of our hearts personally, the work and support they offer is so valuable to many people. We’re delighted the money we raised from Tough Mudder and all our other fundraising activities will really help out with the work that they do.”
We’ve now selected St Peters Hospice as our corporate charity for the next year.
