A group of young people from Cadbury Heath kicked-off against the Police at a community football match last week.
The match was organised to raise money to take youngsters from the Cadbury Heath Youth Centre to Thorpe Park later this year. The event was supported by Merlin Housing Society who sponsored the t-shirts for the players.
Cadbury Heath Youth Worker, Melanie Williams said: “I am very proud to be the manager of Cadbury Heath Youth Club. We had the most incredible night playing football against the police. We did lose 6 - 3 but all the young people, youth workers, volunteers and young helpers were just outstanding and I am so very proud of everyone who played and helped.”
PCSO Andy Lagana-Forbes said: "It was great for us to get the chance to engage with young people on the sports field, rather than as uniformed officers. We're really pleased we were able to support their fundraising."
Neighbourhood Housing Officer, Cyndy Simpson said: “We were delighted to be asked to sponsor the t-shirts for this event. This event has helped to break down barriers between young people and the Police in the area. As we’re committed to investing in local communities, we couldn’t think of a better way to show our support.”
Photos from the event can be seen on the Merlin Housing Society’s Facebook page.
